You seem to be reading some bs script devoid of fact...just ignorance. Keep up the good work citizen. Perhaps your dream of a divided social and political landscape will become a reality; It has clearly worked for the US. Asshole.
Pride comes before the fall...and I'll see you on the
way back down.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6399730406480392183.post-14446023569641125052011-03-23T17:47:42.019-03:002011-03-23T17:47:42.019-03:00quote "Lets remember not one single governmen...quote "Lets remember not one single government worker contributes to the growth of Canada. They are just part of the socialist wealth redistribution plan."

This is the defintion of a short sighted, ignorant comment that sounds good on a bumper sticker but has no basis in fact. The "righties" love to boil their ideas down into simple quotes that completely ignore critical thought.
Let's think about this for a moment. "Lets remember not one single government worker contributes to the growth of Canada." First, I love the way the poster says, "Lets remember" as if it's already a given fact and they are just reminding us. Second, they say "not one single worker contributes to the growth of Canada".
We could go on about their definition of growth but for the sake of simplicity... are they saying that educating our children does not contribute to the growth of our country? That our police, firefighters and military have nothing to contribute? That their efforts have done nothing to make Canada the country that it is?
Or maybe, they just don't feel those people should be paid a decent living for their contribution. Which brings us to economic growth... sometimes the only measure of growth the right understands.
Well, I don't imagine getting rid of all those jobs would do much for our economy. I suppose one could argue we don't need those people which is a valid point... Somalia seems not to need them either.
Now, I am not a gov't employee and I don't and have never been part of a union. But I will say this. Gov't employees and union members buy my products and my services. They buy houses, they buy cars, they renovate, they eat in restaurants and shop in grocery stores. In purely economic terms, if that's not contributing to the growth of Canada I'm not certain what is.
In social terms, I live a much richer life because of the services they provide... whether that's the education my kids get, the protection and security I feel because I live in a countty that is capable of enforcing it's laws and because the nurse who took my blood the other day did a job I couldn't, or wouldn't want to do.
Real life isn't explained by a slogan, or some simple idea that might sound good but means little.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6399730406480392183.post-71416825463675963992011-01-18T20:55:56.379-04:002011-01-18T20:55:56.379-04:00Mr. Harper's political trickery, opacity and d...Mr. Harper's political trickery, opacity and dishonesty make me wonder at Canada's resilience in the face of destructive leadership. If we can just hold this nation together a little longer until that reptile is gone, maybe Canada can look forward to working at being the world's darling again.Mr. Skungeousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6399730406480392183.post-5681976916094877012011-01-15T19:16:54.662-04:002011-01-15T19:16:54.662-04:00Funny, I've never considered myself a "le...Funny, I've never considered myself a "leftie". What I am is a fiscal conservative that is strongly against massive government debt and a social liberal that believes that we do need some government programs to assist the needy in our society. I am also a person who abhors politicians who shill themselves and their principles just to gain votes and power. Politicians that morph their stand on issues just to appeal to the electorate do not deserve my vote. I'm pretty certain that's what I said in this posting....and I'd say the same thing if it were a Liberal, NDP or Bloc candidate or MP.A Political Junkiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03342345936277964422noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6399730406480392183.post-68797235619450032312011-01-15T09:43:56.870-04:002011-01-15T09:43:56.870-04:00You lefties always seem to forget the Conservative...You lefties always seem to forget the Conservatives were forced into spending so called stimulus money (debt) or else face a coup! We have far too many government employees at all levels of government. I remember Trudeau promising to "freeze" the size of the civil service, yet it grew by 50,000 people over 5 years.

Just drive on the 401 in Toronto on a government holiday, no tracffic, everything moves smoothly.

Governments have been afraid of their unions for far too many years. It's time to cut this bunch and stop the choke hold they have on the growth of this country.

Lets remember not one single government worker contributes to the growth of Canada. They are just part of the socialist wealth redistribution plan.

As for Canada breaking apart, it is time for the Provinces to start acting like adults and Qeubec is the worst. Quebec is nothing more than a spoiled teenager wanting someone else to pay their bills. There is no reason for Quebec to be a "have-not" province! This gravy train needs to STOP!

The Liberals have worked to destory Canada since Trudeau's days. It is their failed policies of multi-culturalism that stops our country from truly pulling together. Look to the UK for for how this failure will play out. Trudeau pitted each region against each other. He had no respect for provinces at all and wanted the Feds to control everything.

Harper believes the provinces should look atfer their responsibilites and Ottawa its own, which has brought peace to provincial affairs.

I pray for a majority Conservative government so major changes can be made to reduce the size of government for good!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6399730406480392183.post-3249357881331821362011-01-14T16:01:57.037-04:002011-01-14T16:01:57.037-04:00Yes, I am because it speaks to his character and h...Yes, I am because it speaks to his character and his intentions. It was a speech given without thought to what his future may hold and, as such, is completely candid especially in light of the fact that it was given to what was an audience of "friendlies".

Don't forget that at the time, he had already written the policy for the Reform Party so his political beliefs and policy leanings were well established. These were not words spoken in haste or off -the-cuff, they reflected his well-entrenched beliefs.

What Mr. Harper says now has to be listened to through a filter that removes CPC talking points and his agenda that strives for re-election by making himself acceptable to the Canadian public at large.A Political Junkiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03342345936277964422noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6399730406480392183.post-3586313430139899342011-01-14T14:47:45.869-04:002011-01-14T14:47:45.869-04:00are you really using a speech given FIFTEEN years ...are you really using a speech given FIFTEEN years ago as the backbone of your argument?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6399730406480392183.post-25869705091180404522011-01-14T13:45:30.916-04:002011-01-14T13:45:30.916-04:00Ditto!Ditto!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6399730406480392183.post-19564621046044569312011-01-12T00:52:51.442-04:002011-01-12T00:52:51.442-04:00Well written.
