Murdering one of the most famous and popular figures in Iran is unlikely to improve relations. In fact, it is likely to make most Iranians rally behind the current government. Even those who would prefer changes in the government---not regime change, just change-- have the examples of Libya, Iraq and Syria in front of them. I forgot Somalia.
The USA, unless successfully resisted, is a literal kiss of death for hundreds of thousands of Iranians. The USA has an excellent record for blowing up wedding parties and bombing hospitals and of starving or depriving innocent civilians of essential drugs.
It sounds as if Hook has not grasped the meaning of the Iranian demonstration attack on Al Asad air base in Iraq and it was a demonstration attack. The Iranians have demonstrated that no American base in the extended Middle East is safe from Iranian missiles nor is any Saudi or Emerati installation including oil facilities and water desalination plants. Judging from what I read Iranian missiles there is no US base that is safe from Djibouti to many of the US bases in Afghanistan or the two major air bases in Turkey.
Iran has shown that us allies in the region that US cannot protect themwhile at the same time enraginga ny number of non-governmental militias in the regio who are almost certainly absolutely furious at the murder of General Soleimani and the Iraqi General Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis

President Trump's tweet in Persian broke the Twitter numbers.
I would not be surprised that this may be true. However,it is more likely due to Total amazement that the Idiot in Chief was stupid enough to tweet to Iranians in Farsi. Sort of a "I have to see this myself" thing.

They (the Iranians) hate this system and love America,
That is an insane statement. There are probably any number of Iranians who would like to see major changes in the Iranian government. I doubt that many (any?) of them love of America. There may be a lot of goodwill towards Americans but a lot of memory of the USA's support for Saddam Hussein in the Iran-Iraq war, the support for the terrorists in the Mojahedin-e Khalq, and just a general resentment or hatred for the USA because of the sanctions.

Washington is not interested in having Iran change its behaviour, it is interested only in regime change in Iran.
And Iran is not interested in a US-led regime chance. Remember Libya, Iraq, Syria and so on.
Perhaps the most interesting thing is why does Washington think they can actually do this? So far the record from Vietnam on is pretty poor--well perhap Grenada excepted. Come to think of it the US/UK regime change in Iran back in 1953 was so successful that they managed to create the Islamic Republic.
Iraq now has closer ties with Iran than before the US invasion and Syria has much closer ties with Iraq, Iran and Russia.

jrkrideauhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04869979887929067657noreply@blogger.com
