Now that
"Tiny Mike" Duffy has agreed to repay his more than generous Senate housing
allowance, I thought that it was time to take a look at his expenses for the
past two years as declared on the Senate of Canada website.
Here they
are:
That's a total of over $42800 in "Living Expenses in the National Capital Region" for the period from September 1, 2010 to November 30th, 2012. Note that this does not include the amount claimed since he was anointed as a Senator in December 2008. On top of this, during his first three months as a Senator back in 2009, he spent a whopping $100,848 in travel. How about paying some of that back while you're at it? I must say that I did like the look on his face when Bruce Rainnie asked him if he would pay back the entire $42000!
Oh yes, and you know that you're an Island resident when you get the residential property tax credit which, by his own admission, Mr. Duffy does not.
What should be of greatest concern to Canadians is the fact that Mr. Duffy (and his fellow Senators) are responsible for providing Parliament with sober second thought on all legislation that is passed by the House of Commons. How can we trust the judgement of a man who cannot even figure out how to fill out a Senate form properly?

Apparently, once you get your head stuck in the "Ottawa Trough", it's pretty hard to extract it. Now it's time for Mr. Harper to do the right thing; admit that he made a big mistake way back on December 22, 2008 and provide Mr. Duffy with a letter of resignation and aone-way ticket back to his home in Kanata, Charlottetown or Cavendish.
Corruption at the highest and most honourable level , a real Canadiene, eh ?
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable............Duffy should resign if he had any decency - how can folks respect these people at all.
DeleteNo wonder we have no confidence with politcians when we have people like this that will take the tax payers to whatever they can until they are caught by some reporters. They should be put in jail and charged to the full extent of the law as a criminal
Deletethis is Canada?????
DeleteThis is Harpers Canada.
DeleteWhat a shame the way this govt has turned out! How about an audit of all senators expenses!
ReplyDeleteThe senators expenses ha ha ha haw you keep thieves to prospers ?????
Deletevote them !!!!!
again ..... and.... again....and forever..
by slavesforever !
A mistake is putting the wrong date or postal code on the form. It's NOT a mistake when you're getting confused over where your home is!!
ReplyDeleteMike Duffy...."stupid like a FOX".
ReplyDeleteBest write in ever!
DeleteCheers to you too Mike !!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry meant " CHAIR "
Bet he won't do the Honorable thing.
What is with all the regular travel expense? If the Honorable Senator has a home in Cavendish then he does not need to spend money on hotels. How many times a month has he flown back and forth?
ReplyDeleteAnd what about his staff costs? Don't the taxpayers already pay for administrative staff for the Senate? How much more "staff" do these nobs need?
Another political hack screwing the average Canadian tax payer. I've advocated the abolishment of the Senate for twenty years. Maybe cases like Mike Duffy will get Canadians so ticked off they will demand that the government get rid of these buffoons. You can bet that the gutless MPs won't do anything worthwhile until they really feel the heat and start to fear for their jobs. Pass along the news to all your friends
ReplyDelete“I filled in a form that the Senate has, which I may have filled in incorrectly. And if I did that…anyway.”
ReplyDeleteTry filling out your income tax like Mike, or your EI Claim like Mike, or sign a Customs declaration like Mike or reply to the questions of have you been speeding or have you been drinking?
has anyone correlated the dates of his expenses with conservative party functions?
ReplyDeleteThank heavens the New-Conservative Party came on the scene to reform the senate, build integrity and provide an open and transparent government!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, have we ever had a more corrupt bunch on the Hill?
NEVER
DeleteYes they were called the Liberals.
DeleteSo what exactly is all the work that Mike Duffy is doing for PEI from which he doesn't want to be distracted?
ReplyDeleteMr. Duffy was not 'anointed'. He was appointed. As for the expenses, Mr. Duffy was not alone.
ReplyDeleteFrom accounts in the news, this loophole has been around for years and, only now, is that loophole being investigated. The people who have been turning a blind eye should be held accountable in equal measure as those who abused the intent.
Mike is entitled to his entitlements. He wants it all, the health plan, the subsidized housing, the travel benefits. Just another gluttonous pig at the trough.
ReplyDeleteLooks like this one has legs Steve. Better get moving!
What, exactly, is this important work you are doing for PEI Mike?
I never trusted Mike Duffy after what he done to Stephane Dion.
ReplyDeletePIGS AT THE TROUGH. ALL POLITICIANS ARE PIGS AT THE TROUGH.MUNICIPAL,PROVINCIAL,FEDERAL.NDP,TORY,LIBERAL.PIGS AT THE TROUGH.
ReplyDeleteAnd they say corruption only happens somewhere else outside this country.
ReplyDeleteELIMINATE THE WASTEFUL, USELESS SENATE !
ReplyDeleteWords like "The Honorable Member""Transparency" and "Accountability" should never be spoken in Ottawa as they are meaningless.
ReplyDeleteI suggest we change the political parties,Conservatives,NDP Liberals Green and PQ to Cancer Gonarehha,Syphilis,Aids and Diarhhea to be applied to wherever one chooses
ReplyDeletenow let's do the adult thing, before the taxpayers revolt.
