How the West Has Played ISIS' Game

In Issue 7 of Dabiq, the official magazine of ISIS (and a rather glossy and gory one at that), an essay entitled "The Extinction of the Grayzone" outlines ISIS' game plan.  When reading this essay that was published shortly after the Charlie Hebdo massacre, it becomes quite apparent that the military - political establishment in the West has played right into ISIS' bloody hands.

Here is a quote from the essay keeping in mind that the "grayzone" refers to the fabric of Western society and that the crusaders refers to the West:

"The presence of the Khilāfah (i.e. the ISIS Islamic caliphate) also magnifes the political, social, economic, and emotonal impact of any operation carried out by the mujāhidīn against the enraged crusaders (the West).  This magnifed impact compels the crusaders to actively destroy the grayzone themselves, the zone in which many of the hypocrites and deviant innovators living in the West are hiding." (my explanation in non-italics)

The author of the essay observes that ISIS intends to provoke Western governments into carrying out both military reprisals and adopting invasive and draconian security measures as a response to ISIS' actions.  This will drive a wedge between Western Muslims (the hypocrites and deviant innovators) living in Europe, Canada, the United States and elsewhere and non-Muslim Western society.

Returning to the essay, we find that this is the result of the wedge that ISIS is driving between Western Muslims and non-Muslims:

"The Muslims in the West will quickly find themselves between one of two choices, they either apostasize and adopt the kufrī religion (i.e. non-Islamic religions including Christianity and Judaism) propagated by Bush, Obama, Blair, Cameron, Sarkozy, and Hollande in the name of Islam so as to live amongst the kuffār (a derogatory term referring to non-Muslims i.e kafir) without hardship, or they perform hijrah to the Islamic State and thereby escape persecution from the crusader governments and citizens....Muslims in the crusader countries will find themselves driven to abandon their homes for a place to live in the Khilāfah, as the crusaders increase persecution against Muslims living in Western lands so as to force them into a tolerable sect of apostasy in the name of “Islam” before forcing them into blatant Christianity and democracy.    " (my explanation in non-italics and my bold)

Here are some of the post-November 13/14 suggestions that would bring fruition to ISIS' ultimate plan:

1.) France drops 20 bombs on the ISIS stronghold of Raqaa - link

2.) Interment of terror suspects in French detention centres - link

English translation of comments by French conservative Laurent Qauquiez:

"In almost all terrorist attacks we have experienced, it was individuals who were already monitored. We cannot wait for them to pass the act. I ask that all registered persons [ie 4000 People) be placed in anti-terrorist detention centers specifically dedicated, "said the secretary general of the Republicans on Saturday to AFP without specifying whether the proposal had been approved by the president of his party, Nicolas Sarkozy."

3.) Dissolution of mosques in France where hate is preached and deportation of their foreign imams - link

4.) End both legal and illegal immigration to France - link

Obviously, action by the West is required after massacres like the ones that have taken place in France over the past year.  However, our political leaders need to be certain that their actions are not an over-reaction that will feed directly into ISIS' agenda of dividing the peaceful Muslims who have lived in the West for generations and conquering us.  Since the War on Terror began in 2001, we have learned the hard way that the geopolitics of the Middle East are far more complex than they appear to be at first glance and that our politicians are more than willing to sacrifice our personal freedoms for their own gain and for the appearance of "security" which is obviously little more than smoke and mirrors.

As the late Osama bin Laden stated back in 2004:

“All that we have mentioned has made it easy for us to provoke and bait this administration. All that we have to do is to send two mujahidin to the furthest point east to raise a piece of cloth on which is written al-Qaida, in order to make the generals race there to cause America to suffer human, economic, and political losses without their achieving for it anything of note other than some benefits for their private companies.

This is in addition to our having experience in using guerrilla warfare and the war of attrition to fight tyrannical superpowers, as we, alongside the mujahidin, bled Russia for 10 years, until it went bankrupt and was forced to withdraw in defeat.

So we are continuing this policy in bleeding America to the point of bankruptcy. Allah willing, and nothing is too great for Allah”.

The cycle of violence is unending.  Obviously, the mission was "Not Accomplished" and whatever we are doing now is not solving the terrorism problem.
