WikiLeaks ongoing revelations about the Central Intelligence Agency and its newfound ability to spy on us through our television sets and iPhones really raised the hackles of some Congressional members, including Nebraska Senator, Ben Sasse (R-NE), a majority member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Here's what he had to say on his website on March 9th, 2017:
U.S.
Senator Ben Sasse, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, issued the
following response to WikiLeaks’ founder Julian Assange’s press conference.
"It is
imprudent to comment on the particulars of these leaks but this is dead certain:
Julian Assange should spend the rest of his life wearing an orange jumpsuit.
He’s an enemy of the American people and an ally to Vladimir Putin. Mr. Assange
has dedicated his life’s work to endangering innocent lives, abetting despots,
and stoking a crisis of confidence in the West.”
Here's his Tweet on the subject:
Julian Assange should spend the rest of his life wearing an orange jumpsuit. This is why: https://t.co/jEPlpd2Krv pic.twitter.com/Zj81vZy0vt— Senator Ben Sasse (@SenSasse) March 9, 2017
Apparently,
he's forgotten that some people actually like hearing the unvarnished, apolitical
truth about their government! As well, peoples' lack of confidence in their government has much to do with government shenanigans and relatively little to do with WikiLeaks.
In
response, here's what Julian Assange had to say:
I will not take fashion advice from the likes of Senator Sasse. #CIA #Vault7https://t.co/lVcgwllydu pic.twitter.com/g7nOdoYhbm— Julian Assange (@JulianAssange) March 13, 2017
You have to
hand it to Julian Assange, for a guy who has spent nearly 2700 days under house arrest in the United
Kingdom's Ecuadorian embassy, he still manages to maintain a rather droll sense
of humour.
People like Sasse and Mccain are the ones that should be wearing orange jumpsuits. Traitors.
