As a fan of the original movie, I
just can't resist posting this video from YouTube:
I can still remember sitting in a
theatre way back in 1976, watching the original incarnation of the movie with a
couple of friends the night after I had just watched the movie for the first time with my then girlfriend. When Carrie's hand came out of the ground right at the
end of the movie, one of my buddies just about had a stroke! Even then, Brian
De Palma knew how to manipulate an audience.
Looking back nearly 40 years, the
movie was rather cornball but, in the era before movie producers and directors
had the option to overuse computer-generated effects, it seemed pretty cool.
